The fact that 192.168.1.1 is being set up as a default in your Linksys router for instance, is that it falls in the 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255 private network block. Opening your default IP address of 192.168.1.1 will lead you to a webpage asking for your router's user ID and password, where settings can be done to your device such as security and routing behavior.

The IP address 192.168.1.1 is your default router access page. Having a system with the same IP address of 192.168.1.1 as your router under that same network will give you IP address conflicts. A good router will have features like DHCP client server to allow automatic IP assignment on each computer. Enabling that feature will ensure that no computer in that private network to have the same IP address as the router.

Dusting a computer is one of the most important task a user must do to keep the computer alive, but sometimes problems arises after dusting. Having problems after dusting is not common since most dusting is done by blowing inside the computer unless the user take all hardware parts to clean it up.

So lets do an after-dusting check list to find your possible problem, I'm assuming you take out all the computer parts for optimal dusting. Before we continue check the computer power cable and make sure is connected and try to turn it on, we don't want to do all the following procedures and then find that the main problem was because the computer power supply cable wasn't connected properly.

During the dusting process did you remove any cables? Some times while dusting power cables are removed by mistake, look inside your computer motherboard to see if the small power, reset, hard drive led, etc led cables are connected to the motherboard. In case you have a lose cable check if its the power cable then get the motherboard manual to set it back, if the cable is only lose plug it in firmly and try to turn on your computer.

Did you disconnect any power cable coming from the power supply? I assume your computer has an ATX motherboard check if the main power supply cable is connected to the motherboard, so many cables coming from the power supply, which one is it? look for the biggest power supply adapter, that adapter is the main source connection and provides power to the motherboard. If that cable is connected then that is not the problem.

Note: Most power problems are because the computer is not getting power, that's why we revise first the power supply cable connections to make sure they are not lose.

Did you remove any adapter card, like modem, video card, or any other? Just to verify check all the adapters to see if they are properly inserted into the PCI slots, a lose adapter won't prevent from a computer to power up but just in case check all of them. If they are inserted properly let move to the next possible problem.

Did you remove the processor and cooling fan to clean it? In case you did, make sure the processor and cooling fan are inserted the right position. If by accident you damage the processor while reinstalling it back that means you have to buy a new one and the reasons why the computer won't start.

Did you disconnect the Hard Drive? This won't prevent to power up but will prevent to load up your operating system, check the power and IDE cables and make sure they are connected properly.

And for last lets try to reset the CMOS Chip jumper - Since you have the computer case open; do you see a small blue jumper? Well is blue on some motherboards and since I don't know what motherboard brand you are using go to your computer motherboard manual to locate the CMOS reset jumper. The jumper will look exactly as the one you are looking right now, after you locate the jumper change the jumper location from 2 and 3 to 1 and 2 or vice versa for one minute to clear up the motherboard CMOS setting. After you have done that try to turn one the computer to see if power up. If yes congratulation your computer is fixed now.

The year 2008 have been of many ups and downs in the technology industry with companies like Apple, Google making some great impressions in the industry. It was a year of credit crunch largely felt on world's biggest developed economies which include US and UK. Even then there were some great tech releases from one of the very well known companies around the world which are further disscussed below.

• One of the biggest hits came from the Apple factory, the famous iPhone which once again proved that Apple is indeed the leader in innovative and creative interfaces. The iPhone 3G had major improvements over its former flagship of iPhone. Even the price of the handset was reduced in almost everywhere which also made it an affordable and not to be missed device.

• Some great hits and misses from Google this year with the launch of Android operating system on a HTC phone from T Mobile called G1 which created some good reviews but was not a hit with the masses as did not have the looks in it to sell. And then the biggest failure of Google came up which was similar to Second Life called as Google Lively which was scrapped even before getting some rave reviews from the media.

• And then the Microyahoo agenda that was the mother of all the news in the tech industry. Microsoft failed twice in acquiring Yahoo (taking a stake of 60%) which resulted in a resignation from Jerry Yang from the post of CEO and becoming the chief of Yahoo. As of now there is no one who has replaced him and the position is still vacant. Lets see who will be the lucky one to take over the CEO chair. Then there was Sean Suchter, VP of Search, Yahoo who was hired by Microsoft to gain an upper hand against Google.

• And then the saga continues from the stable of Microsoft with its Vista operating system facing much criticism from the tech industry professionals, home users and from almost everyone involved in the usage of Windows Vista. They tried to rectify it by realeasing a service pack within 1 year of the actual release of the OS, but even that failed. As of now they are testing the beta version of service pack 2 for Vista which they claim that it will solve almost all the issues (lets wait and see what happens) and will be released much before the release of the next version of OS ie. Windows 7.

• Last but not the least again from Microsoft , a new operating system which is expected to be released by the end of 2009 has gained some positive reviews from the beta testing community. Till now the builds that have been released so far of Windows 7 is very stable and reliable both in speed and performance as compared to Windows Vista. The interface has been greatly enhanced by introduction of Aero Peek and AeroSnap and the introduction of ribbon interface in both MSPaint and Wordpad - same interface as in Office 2007.
